Thesis Title: Reserach Cultures in IT and Engineering: NESB HDR student perceptions of their responsibilites in Information Technology and Engineering

About

Barbara earned her Bachelor's degree in Forms of Communication at Griffith University, Nathan and her Bachelor's degree with Honours in Italian the following year.  She completed her Diploma in Education at Wollongong University in English and Italian methods. 

Barbara attended Oldenburg University, Oldenburg for one year where she studied Social Sciences.  She also completed her Graduate Diploma in Gerontology through the University of South Australia and her coursework Master's of Applied Science in Library Management and Information Management at the University of Wagga Wagga in New South Wales.

Barbara is a Masters by Research student at the Queensland University of Technology in Information Technology in the Faculty of Science and Technology.  In 2010, she completed the Graduate Certificate of Research Commercialisation at that university.  In 2011 she completed studies in teaching Mathematics for the Australian curriculum and teaching Science for understanding.

Currently, Barbara is teaching Mathematics and Study of Religion at a De La Salle College in Australia for Middle School and Seniors.  She has recently taughts as a Sessional Academic at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia in "Impact of Information Technology", a unit for undergraduate and Masters students.  Her experience includes teaching in the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Business and Faculty of Information Technology (now  part of the Faculty of Science and Technology) at QUT.

Her research topic is in Research cultures in IT and Engineering on Non-English Speaking Background Higher Degree Research student perceptions of their responsibilities in Information Technology and Engineering.

Barbara is a qualified Personal Fitness Trainer, Audio Engineer, Teacher, Librarian, Information Manager and Football Referee (Gridiron).  Her first languages are English and German and she has dual English and Australian citizenship.  She was born in England and lives in Australia.

Her interests include website design and content management to structure group processes.
